Your stay at Casa del Gavilan includes a full breakfast. For your other meals, Cimarron has several fine dining establishments from which to choose. The Cree-Mee serves hamburgers, fries, and such as well as ice cream and soft drinks. The St. James Hotel has a formal dining room and also a bar and a coffee shop. The menu at St. James' Lambert dining room includes filet mignon and buffalo steak. Prices range from $14 to $27. For lighter fare, the Sweetwater Cafe at the St. James Hotel serves burgers, Mexican dinners, steaks, and chicken from $4.50 to $13. The Kit Carson serves sandwiches and Mexican dinners. Heck's Hungry Traveler offers trout, chicken-fried steak, burgers, steak, and Mexican dinners ranging in price from $5.50 to $14. The Porch is Cimarron's newest dining establishment and has terrific sandwiches and the best homemade pie in town. Ask about their box lunches when taking a day trip. If you are looking for a quick snack or a sweet treat, the Cimarron Art Gallery serves coffee, espresso, cappuccino, pastries, malts, milkshakes, and other ice cream delights. During the summer months, the Burrito Banquet (located underneath a wooden canopy along Highway 64 in Cimarron) serves excellent tacos and burritos. Located about 8 miles north of Cimarron, the Colfax Tavern overlooks the ghost town of Colfax. Many of the local ranchers visit the Colfax Tavern for a cold beer after a long day of working cattle. Burgers, hotdogs, and pizza are available nightly. In addition, the Colfax Tavern offers spaghetti night for $3.50 on Mondays and brisket dinners for $6.00 on Wednesdays. The dinners begin about 6:00 but please call first to confirm serving hours.
